DNA is the control mechanism which must be well developed and properly connected to create full function and operation. This session will provide both the components and the connections which lead to health and flourishing of the Christian school.

Mr. Bowdon is lead partner at Bowdon Miller Shepherding Group. He has over 40 years of extensive educational experience with multiple perspectives as a parent, Board member and Head of school.
  • Taught various science courses and coached high school football for 5 years in public schools
  • Served 4 years as high school principal at Evangelical Christian School
  • Head of School at Evangelical Christian School for 16 years
  • Executive Director for Institute for Christian School Development and President of SchoolMasters providing research and consulting for Christian schools
  • Consulted with over 200 Christian schools around the world
  • Held Head of School positions at Westminster Christian School in Louisiana, Shoals Christian School in Alabama, and Ben Lippen School in South Carolina
  • 8 years as Vice President for Christian Education at Columbia International University
  • Founder of the Lowrie Center for Christian Education at Columbia International University
  • 4 years as member of the Board of Trustees at Bryan College
  • Served as Southeast Regional Council member for Association of Christian Schools International
  • Served as President of Memphis Association of Independent Schools
  • Served as member of the Independent School Management board
  • Co-founder of the Christian School Roundtable and continues as Moderator

Bryan Miller
Bryan Miller
Mr. Miller is a partner at Bowdon Miller Shepherding Group and has over 30 years of experience with perspectives as a parent, Board member and Head of school.
  • Served on Board of Trustees of ECS for 3 years and chair of various committees including Finance, Board Development, Strategic Planning, and Head Search Committee
  • Involved in national, regional and local associations which support leadership, training and support for K-12 Christian schools
  • Led Board retreats for several K-12 Christian schools and presented at local, regional and national Christian school conferences
  • Consulting Expertise: Elementary and secondary education analysis, innovation, risk analysis, strategic planning , leadership development.
  • Twenty-five year career in banking which included providing retail and commercial credit customer solutions
  • Twenty of the twenty-five years including leadership of small and large product teams including serving as the market President for the last thirteen years.
  • Served on the Board and key leadership roles, including Board Chair, for a variety of community groups
  • Served fourteen years as the Head of School of a 50 year old, 1000 student non-denominational Christian school which included extensive work in strategic and financial planning as well as implementing an RDI concept (school of resource, distinction and innovation)
